This spot is a wine bar and shop by José Maria da Fonseca, a wine producer from Azeitão (south of Lisbon), founded in 1834.
It offers all of its reds, whites, sparkling, rosés and muscatels, which can be served by the glass and accompany Iberian “petiscos” (tapas). There’s homemade bread from Algarve, Sado oysters, cheese platters (which include Azeitão cheese), Guijuelo sausages (from the Salamanca region), and even desserts to go with the Setúbal muscatels.
The interior looks like a wine cellar, divided into different rooms decorated with old photos, where you may sit at the counter or lounge on sofas and chairs. The wines are displayed on shelves and on an arch in the main hall, covered with 3200 bottles.
